Eric Bogosian was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Chicago and graduated from Oberlin College in 1976, after which he moved to New York City. In New York, he was hired by The Kitchen as an assistant, established a dance series there, and after five years, he left to devote all of his energies to his theatrical work. Between 1976 and 1982, Bogosian wrote, directed, and/or starred in more than sixteen Off-Off-Broadway productions.

Between 1980 and 2000, six great solos written and performed by Eric Bogosian were produced off-Broadway, garnering him three Obie Awards and the Drama Desk Award. His first two solos, Men Inside and Fun House, won awards at the New York Shakespeare Festival. His third, Drinking in America, was shown by American Place Theatre. Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead, and Wake Up and Smell the Coffee were commercially produced off-Broadway by Frederick Zollo.
Eric is also the author of six produced plays, awarded to Talk Radio in 1987. Talk Radio was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, but lost to Alfred Uhry. Driving Miss Daisy. Bogosian’s one-man drama Notes from Underground has had several productions, now starring Jonathan Ames in Performance Space 112. In addition to his many appearances in his solo work and starring in his play Talk Radio, Bogosian has also starred in Stephen Adly. Guirgis’s The Last Days of Judas Iscariot directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman (LAByrinth) and Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still directed by Daniel Sullivan Manhattan Theater Club Broadway.
